NEW Code of Professional Conduct in effect June 1, 2025 Read

Code of Professional Conduct

The Code of Professional Conduct (Code) is the College’s Professional Standard and Code of Ethics. The Code replaced the College’s Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners (2019) and the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses (2017) effective June 1, 2025. The Code describes the accountabilities that all RNs/NPs have to clients, employers, colleagues, and the public. The Code explains what the public can expect from RNs/NPs. The Code also describes what RNs/NPs must do to maintain professionalism, competence, and ethical behaviour to deliver safe client care. All RNs/NPs are responsible for understanding the Code principles and are accountable to apply them to their own nursing practice, regardless of their role, title, responsibility, or domain of practice.
