Virtual Nursing Practice
Original Presentation: July 20, 2020
The College of Registered Nurses has been tracking and trending providing nursing services through a virtual means for many years. Sometimes virtual care has been the desired option, or the only option, especially for those who live in rural and remote areas where face-to-face visits are not always available. The COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent social distancing protocols has further highlighted the unprecedented for the use of virtual care technologies to deliver nursing services safely.
This presentation provides an overview of our newest document entitled Virtual Nursing Practice (VNP). VNP encompasses all types of nursing care and services delivered across distances via virtual care technologies. The VNP document articulates the practice expectations required of RNs/NPs participating in virtual nursing practice.
