Quality Assurance Program
The Quality Assurance (QA) Program is a proactive mechanism to address an issue/concern regarding an RN’s/NP’s practice thereby supporting a nurse to meet the Standards of Practice for safe, competent and ethical care. This program strengthens the College’s mandate to regulate RNs and NPs in the public interest.
A quality assurance review of a registered nurse or a registered nurse’s practice may be initiated by a Quality Assurance Committee (QAC), consisting of RNs and public representatives, and may make orders to address a practice issue.
During the review, it may be identified that the RN may be guilty of conduct deserving of sanction. In this case, the QAC will terminate its review and the matter will be referred to the Complaints Authorization Committee.
