Interim licence with Restrictions (IL-R)

Interim licence with restrictions (IL-R) may be issued to IENs who meet all other registration requirements but are missing specific content areas from their nursing education program (e.g. Pediatrics, Maternity or Mental Health).

The IL-R will be granted for 6 months but may be extended. The IL-R will allow the individual to gain employment and practice in a restricted employment setting while completing education course(s) (theory and clinical) for the missing content areas through the IEN bridging/re-entry program.

Individuals must successfully complete required course(s) within two years. Following successful completion an IEN will be eligible to register for NCLEX-RN examination.
