Obtaining an Interim Licence

Interim licenses may be issued to IENs who have been granted provisional registration. You may be eligible for an interim licence with or without conditions/restrictions. Review the College’s Interim Licence Fact Sheet for additional information.

To obtain an interim licence to practice nursing in Newfoundland and Labrador, you must submit the following:

  1. Application for Interim Licence with fee ($156.40 + $78.20 liability protection)
    Note: Contact the College regarding the process to apply for an interim licence.
  2. Proof of legal name change (if changed since submitted provisional registration application)

The College will notify you if any documents must be updated prior to issuing the interim licence, including verification of registration(s) and/or statement from current/most recent employer(s).

Once the interim licence has been issued the College will issue an electronic receipt and your name will display to the College’s Member Search. An interim licence is required before commencing employment, which includes orientation.
