Francophones from official language minority communities face many language barriers that negatively impact accessibility, safety, and the quality of health services they receive. In Newfoundland and Labrador, the Francophone and Acadian community faces such challenges, including a significant lack of French language health services and bilingual healthcare professionals. This presentation will provide you with a better understanding the Francophone community and the risks of language barriers, as well as practical tips and tricks to help your Francophone patients, even if you cannot speak the language.
