Association of Registered Nurses Officially Becomes College of Registered Nurses

For 65 years registered nurses in our province have been afforded the privilege of self-regulation as the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Effective September 1, 2019 the name of the Association will officially change to the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador.  This change is the result of an amendment to the Registered Nurses Act2008.

In keeping with trends across the country the purpose of the change of name is to provide greater clarity to the public with respect to the role of the College as a regulator.  The mandate of the College, public protection, has not changed.

Significant technical and administrative changes (e.g., updating documents) will be required to facilitate this transition. Your indulgence during this period is greatly appreciated.
