College Council Announces Results of 2023 Election

Tracy MacDonald, Chair of College Council is pleased to announce the following additions to the Council of the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador who will assume their role following the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting scheduled for the evening of June 7, 2023:

Chant, Denise – Elected to the position of Eastern Region Councillor
Luther, Donna
– Elected (by acclamation) to the position of Western Region Councillor
Morris, Michael – Elected to the position of Councillor At Large
Rodgers, Patricia –
Elected to the position of Councillor At Large

“The Council of the College of Registered Nurses governs the nursing profession for Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners in Newfoundland and Labrador and as such, directly impacts care which is received by the people of our province. The individuals which comprise our College Council are given a serious and vitally important mandate which requires focus and dedication. To all those who put their names forward, I commend you for your interest in nursing regulation and hope that you continue to participate in College activities. To those who were successfully elected, I offer my sincere congratulations to you and look forward to your professional contributions.”

The College Council is comprised of 10 registered nurses (RNs) elected by the membership and four public representatives appointed by the Independent Appointments Commission (IAC). The RN Act (2008) staggers the terms of office for the RN positions.

There was a total of 5,259 votes cast in this most recent election.
